A friend told me that nostalgia is the one thing that will bring any man to his knees. Nothing is more true. Nostalgia is defined as a wistful desire to return in thought or in fact to a former time in one’s life, to one’s home or homeland, or to one’s family and friends; a sentimental yearning for the happiness, of a former place or time. Sentimental feelings are powerful, especially when it takes some sensory form. These memories are the reason why you keep old concert tickets, can’t listen to a particular song cause it keeps reminding you of a former love interest, and why you lose your train of thought when you look at a old photos from your parents house. As much as I enjoy having conversations reminiscing about how things were, nostalgia can also be counter-productive in relation to actually creating these memories. When I’m not spending time with my family, engaged in school related activities, designing, or watching whatever on netflix; I’m in a constant pursuit for the next one. This pursuit has put me at weird stage in my life, which is somewhere in between these two points. My desire of wanting to grow up, be a little bit more responsible and do away with these habits of my reckless youth is challenged by my other desire to maintain the innocence, simplicity, and the fun of being so young. The question, ‘what the fuck am I doing?’ has gone through my head on several occasions recently. The uncertainty of the future is always a scary thought. I don’t waste too much time worrying about it though, cause no good comes from it. Which is why I keep pressing on with my best foot forward. Where will I be headed? I’m not entirely so sure. I have some goals and places in mind though. I will graduate next Spring. Looking to live at my parents house for a year and pay off some of my student loans. But I plan on moving out to a different city. Austin seems like the place to be while you are still in 20s. I’m not an expert on economics but the job market looks pretty good over there and the city seems full of life outside of the bar and night scene. We will see though. That is only one of the options.

Had some time this past Friday to drop by the Wage-War Shingdig II hosted by BlueTheGreat. And for once I actually bought out my camera, captured some photos and was able to create some Triptychs. It was cool to step out on a Friday night, and go to something other than a bar or club. Also check out some of the cool polaroids Blue was able to capture here, try to find me!
